Meet Toast, a resilient kitten who was part of a group of 15 kittens rescued in Memphis, Tennessee. When she first arrived at her foster home through Angels Among Us Animal Rescue, she was in a sorry state. Her eyes were almost completely crusted over, and she was noticeably smaller than the others, barely able to walk around, according to her foster mom, Hannah Taff.

However, as time went on, something unusual started happening. As Toast began to heal and grow, her appearance took an unexpected turn. While all the other rescued kittens looked like typical felines, Toast’s fur became wild and unkempt, giving her a perpetually disheveled look.

No matter how frequently Toast is groomed, she maintains the appearance of just waking up from a long nap. This unique trait has baffled everyone who knows her. Taff shared, “She does get bathed and brushed daily. Many people thought she just needed a bath to look normal — but nope, she’s just special!”

Despite her unconventional appearance, Toast remains blissfully unaware of her distinctive looks. Her personality shines brightly, winning over the hearts of all who meet her. Taff expressed, “Frequently, people remark, ‘She possesses a unique charm despite her unconventional appearance,’ and that is indeed accurate. However, everyone inevitably falls head over heels for her due to her incredible personality.”

While Toast does have some eye problems that her foster mom is diligently addressing, she is otherwise a carefree and delightful kitten. She may frequently meow, hasn’t quite mastered the art of going to the bathroom without getting messy, and is a big fan of parkour. But her appearance doesn’t faze her one bit. Though she may seem perpetually sleepy, in reality, she is a bundle of fun and joy.

Toast serves as a reminder that true beauty lies in one’s unique qualities and personality. Despite her unconventional appearance, she has captured the hearts of many and continues to bring happiness and laughter to those around her.
